Solace in Impermanence
an Audio Documentary
Places mediate our lives in a multitude of ways; our sense of place, or identity articulated through a place, constantly changes, evolves, and constructs as we attribute a place with particular people, communities, or feelings. Through this Ottawa-based exploration of my identity, I inquire and answer: What brought me to Ottawa? Who am I here? What have I experienced during my time here? I came to this city with a purpose, but when I lose it, I spiral, and my sense of place is disrupted. With rapid and unexpected changes in my life, my relationship with Ottawa evolved in ways I did not imagine, even while I was away from Ottawa. Through voice, sounds, and music, I hope to illustrate how my feelings about this city have changed, and how I've achieved a sense of place I'm content with.
