a Soundscape Composition

How do the sounds of a space invoke a feeling, an experience, or an environment? While we all mediate and traverse spaces throughout our lives, there are particular spaces of meaning articulated in sound. In considering what resonates with me, I narrowed in on my negative relationship with the act of filling my car with gas at night. The landscape, or space, of a gas station at night, is a soundscape full of both expected and unexpected sounds that merge to create an anxiety-inducing space and experience time and time again.
